IT Support Specialist – Job Description
An IT Support Specialist (also known as IT Support Technician or Helpdesk Support) is responsible for maintaining computer systems, networks, and technical infrastructure within an organization. They ensure employees can work efficiently by resolving technical issues quickly and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance to staff (onsite and remote)
- Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware and software
- Troubleshoot system, network, and printer issues
- Manage user accounts, passwords, and access permissions
- Set up new employee workstations (laptops, email, system access)
- Monitor system performance and security
- Maintain IT documentation and support logs
- Coordinate with vendors for hardware or software issues
- Support cybersecurity best practices
Required Skills
- Knowledge of Windows and/or macOS operating systems
- Basic networking knowledge (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, routers)
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
Education & Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
- Certifications (optional but preferred):
- CompTIA A+
- CompTIA Network+
- Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator
- ITIL Foundation
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: AED65,000.00 - AED98,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 40 per week
